Community Foundations

Corporate social responsibility is a top objective for businesses in Northern Virginia, and they support the community in unlimited ways. The Chamber facilitates opportunities for member philanthropy and community service throughout the year – such as a Jeans Day, which in 2011 raised nearly $15,000 in one day to end homelessness in our community.

The Chamber also recognizes Northern Virginia businesses for their commitment to the community at the Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards and other time during the year, such as International Corporate Philanthropy Day.

Additionally, the Chamber manages two community foundations:

Valor Scholarship Fund

The Fairfax County Chamber has a long tradition of honoring some of the bravest members of the community. Established by the Fairfax County Chamber in 1989, the Valor Foundation provides postsecondary education grants to the children of the community's Medal of Valor recipients.  To date, more than $250,000 in scholarships has been awarded.

In 2012, the Fund will host the 34th Annual Valor Awards, as well as a Reception & Auction, to continue to raise funds to support our community’s first responders.

Donations are accepted online at www.supportvalor.org.

Education Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools

A partnership between the Fairfax County Chamber and the Fairfax County Public Schools, The Education Foundation to Support Fairfax County Public Schools supports the mission of the world-class school system to inspire, enable and empower students to meet high academic standards, as defined by the superintendent, through resource development and business partnerships.

In 2011, the Foundation hosted a successful Char-a-oke fundraiser, which attracted U.S. Senator Mark Warner and many other state and local elected officials as guests, and the Foundation raised nearly $500,000 for the schools throughout the year.
